Junior Professional Officer – Associate Migration Officer

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is hiring a qualified Junior Professional Officer – Associate Migration Officer located in the USA. He/She will contribute to key inter-governmental and inter-agency processes to support IOM’ s priorities and objectives on issues related to the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration in 2018. Additionally the successful candidate will support the Office in developing IOM’ s inputs to the process of the Global Compact for Migration. Also the successful candidate will assist in developing and maintaining contacts and networks with relevant UN Member States, UN agencies, civil society actors, and other relevant stakeholders to support information sharing and collaboration on the Global compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration in 2018. She/He will have a Master’s degree in Political or Social Sciences or International Studies with two years of relevant professional experience. Demonstrated experience in liaising with governmental and diplomatic authorities and excellent communication skills, especially in a multilingual setting are required to apply for this position. Associate Human Rights Officer, P2

The United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti is hiring a qualified Associate Human Rights Officer, P2 located in Port-Au-Prince. He/She researches, collects, verifies, analyses and monitors information relevant to the observance of international human rights and humanitarian law in the designated mission area. He/She also participates in discussions with relevant authorities and other influential actors with a view to stop or prevent human rights violations, seek remedial action by the authorities and prevent similar violations from occurring in the future. Additionally the successful candidate assists in liaising with appropriate local and national authorities, civil society, UN Agencies, Funds and Programmes with complementary mandates, and other relevant partners to monitor developments in the human rights situation. Also the successful candidate monitors the national legal systems and their compliance with international human rights instruments, as well as the implementation of recommendations by UN human rights bodies. She/He will have an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law, political science, International relations, social sciences, or in a related area. A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in human rights, political affairs, international relations, law or related area are required to apply for this position.
