The Academy on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law at the College of Law at American University is currently accepting entries for their 2017 Human Rights Essay Award. Individuals are invited to submit scholarly work related to human rights law to be considered for the contest. The winner of the competition will receive a full scholarship to attend the Program of Advanced Studies on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law for either receiving credits for the Diploma or receiving a Certificate of Attendance. The program will be held from May 30 to June 16, 2017 and includes 20 courses. Some papers submitted for the competition may be selected to appear in the American University International Law Review, a peer-reviewed professional journal published by the university. The deadline for submissions is February 1, 2017.
