Senior Human Rights Officer

The Office Of The High Commissioner for Human Rights is offering a position as Senior Human Rights Officer based in Geneva. He/She will ensure the smooth and effective operation of the Office of the High Commissioner, including the organization, coordination and supervision of activities and tasks requiring the attention of the HC and DHC, the communication of instructions and decisions of the HC and DHC to those concerned at all levels. Among the duties of this position is furthermore to act as the focal point for the FO’s active liaison with all Directors and Chiefs of Branches to ensure coordinated Office-wide action on complex policy and operational matters, identifying and addressing possible problems, overlaps or disconnects. The tasks of this position additionally include to provide substantive support to the HC and DHC in the formulation of strategies for OHCHR, from which the medium and longer-term objectives of OHCHR organizational units and operational activities should be derived. She/He will have an advanced university degree (Masters degree or equivalent degree) in human rights, business administration, law, political science, international relations or other related fields. A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in human rights, political affairs, international relations, law or related field are required to apply for this position. Human Rights Officer

The Office Of The High Commissioner for Human Rights is looking for a qualified Human Rights Officer located in Geneva. He/She will provide OHCHR field presences with technical expertise and guidance on their engagement with Humanitarian Coordinators, Humanitarian Country Teams and Clusters (in particular Protection Clusters, including when OHCHR plays a lead role). The successful candidate will also provide OHCHR field presences with advice on how human rights information, analysis, priorities and strategies should feed into relevant humanitarian mechanisms and processes, such as country-level strategic planning and response plans as well as related funding tools (e.g. Humanitarian Needs Assessments; Strategic Response Plans; Central Emergency Response Fund – CERF). Also the successful candidate will contribute to the development of relevant OHCHR operational guidance, methodologies, tools, strategies and policies, to strengthen OHCHR engagement in humanitarian action. She/He will have an advanced University degree (Masters or equivalent), preferably in law, political sciences, international relations or other disciplines related to human rights and humanitarian action. At least 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in human rights, humanitarian action or related field, including in the field are required to apply for this position. Human Rights Officer

The Office Of The High Commissioner for Human Rights is offering a position as Human Rights Officer situated in Geneva. The tasks of this position include to develop and coordinate the production of methodological tools, guidance and other materials for use by OHCHR, in particular field offices, and other partners as relevant, on monitoring human rights in emergencies and other relevant subjects, and an assessment and analysis tool for OHCHR staff working in emergencies. Additionally the successful candidate will facilitate exchanges of experiences, identify, document and validate lessons learned and good practices with regard to the engagement of OHCHR field offices in humanitarian contexts and OHCHR cooperation with UN and other partners on select country situations. The tasks of this position additionally include to provide advice on human rights methodology and training on human rights in humanitarian action to OHCHR staff at Headquarters and in field presences, with priority in humanitarian contexts where OHCHR leads or is a member of field protection clusters. She/He will have an advanced university degree in law, political science, international relations, social sciences or other disciplines related to human rights. At least seven (7) years of progressively responsible work experience, including at the international level, in the human rights or related field are required to apply for this position.
