Human Rights Officer (UN)
The United Nations is hiring a Human Rights Officer for the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Tegucigalpa. The Human Rights Officer will work under the OHCHR head of the Honduras office in tasks in program management, capacity and knowledge building, as well as reporting and liaison. A minimum of a master’s degree or equivalent in human rights, international development, law, political science or a related field is required. At least 5 years of professional experience in human rights or international relations is required, as well as experience in technical assistance and capacity building. Experience in monitoring, legal analysis, and drafting in the field of human rights is desirable, as well as experience in hostile situations with impending security risks. The candidate must be fluent in English and Spanish is required for this position, a working knowledge of French would be an asset. Senior Policy Advisor (UNU)
The United Nations University is hiring a Senior Policy Advisor in office for the UNU Centre for Policy Research in Tokyo, Japan. The Senior Policy Advisor will be responsible for directing all policy related research projects. The specific duties of this position include identifying gaps in policy innovation for UN programs, producing and commissioning scholarships, contributing to fundraising activities, developing innovations and recommendations for policies based on relevant facts and evidence, as well as participating capacity building on the UNU-CPR through policy papers. At least a Master’s Degree or equivalent in human rights, law, political science, or another relevant field is required to be considered for this role, as well as a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in human relations, politics, conflict resolution, or humanitarian response. The candidate must have knowledge of the United Nations and its policies, with an accurate knowledge of the policy making process. The candidate must be fluent in English, but fluency in another UN language like Spanish or French would be an advantage. This duration of this role is one year with the possibility of extension. The United Nations is looking for a Gender Affairs Officer in the Department of Peacekeeping Operations in New York, USA. The Gender Affairs Officer will be responsible for supporting the implementation of UN Security Council Resolutions with a focus on women and gender equality, collaborating with stakeholders, drafting and editing results based publications that include periodic reports and briefings, providing valuable and effective input during the planning process of Gender Equality programs, as well as supporting the development of training modules and materials.
