Program Officer

The Open Society Foundations is looking for a Program Officer for their Asia Pacific Regional Office. Located in New York City, the position requires extensive knowledge of issues in the Korean peninsula that affect both North and South Korea. The Program Officer is responsible for developing strategies to further the foundations’ efforts to promote human rights in North and South Korea and to oversee grant-making for projects from groups that are working toward similar goals in the region.

To qualify for the position, individuals must have a bachelor’s degree and at least 7 to 10 years of work experience related to human rights and civil society in the Korean peninsula. Candidates with backgrounds outside of philanthropy will receive preference. Fluency in English and Korean is also required.

Program Officer

The Asia Pacific Regional Office unit of the Open Society Foundations is currently seeking a new Program Officer that will be responsible for helping to direct the organization’s efforts to protect the rights of people with disabilities who live in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and India. The Program Officer is involved with strategic planning, grant-making and monitoring the social, economic and political landscapes of the region.

Qualified applicants for the Program Officer position will hold a bachelor’s degree in politics, economics or human rights and have at least 7 to 10 years of work experience related to disability rights in South Asia. Individuals with master’s degrees are preferred, and fluency in English is mandatory. Those fluent in any second language, especially one spoken in the region will receive preference.

Communications Manager

Global Witness is currently searching for a U.S. Communications Manager, who will work full-time at their offices in Washington, D.C. The individual will be responsible for developing the entire communications strategy for the U.S. that includes the use of TV and radio interviews, press conferences, media releases and feature stories in major publications. Their ultimate goal is to support the key missions and fundraising activities of the organization.

To qualify for the position, applicants should have previous experience working in a press office either as a journalist or in the communications department and have a well-established set of US media contacts. Multi-Media Editor

Global Witness is currently in search of a Multi-Media Editor to work full time at their offices in London, UK. The editor will be responsible for creating videos, images and audio and for curating and commissioning this type of content from photographers and multi-media journalists. He or she will also be responsible for promoting the content though major media channels.

While there are no specific minimum education or work experience requirements for the Multi-Media Editor position, applicants must have previous experience hiring photographers and multi-media journalists and managing news agencies. Candidates must also be very experienced in using multi-media production software programs like Lightroom and Aperture.
