Associate Human Rights Officer

The Office Of The High Commissioner For Human Rights (OHCHR) is hiring a qualified Associate Human Rights Officer located in Geneva, Switzerland. He/She will provide support to the Voluntary Fund for Victims of Torture (UNVFVT), the UN Voluntary Fund on Contemporary Forms of Slavery (UNVFCFS) and the OPCAT Special Fund through the management of the full cycle of grantees projects as required and support meetings of the Board of Trustees. Additionally the successful candidate will assist in the preparation of and participating in SPT country visits. Also the successful candidate will handle incoming correspondence under the treaty based individual complaints procedures, draft summaries, assist in the drafting of decisions on admissibility and merits. She/He will have an advanced university degree in law, political science, international relations or similar field preferably with a specialization in human rights. A minimum of 2 years progressively responsible work experience at either the national or international level in the field of human rights or related field are required to apply for this position. Junior Speechwriter

Associate Legal Officer

The International Criminal Tribunal For The Former Yugoslavia is hiring a qualified Associate Legal Officer located in The Hague, Netherlands. Among the duties of this position is to conduct legal research on a diverse range of assigned issues in criminal law, international law, international humanitarian law and other area(s) of specialization using multiple research sources; select relevant material, analyse information and present findings for internal review in either written or oral form. Additionally the successful candidate will on behalf of the Judges, assist in the preparation of legal opinions and advice, draft background memoranda, decisions and judgments of the Tribunal. The successful applicant will also assist the Judges and the Senior Legal Officer in the preparation and management of cases, and drafting of decisions during the pre-trial and pre-appeal phase of proceedings. She/He will have an advanced university degree in law with specialisation in international, criminal or humanitarian law. A first level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree. A minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible legal experience, at either the national or international level, with emphasis in criminal law, international law or humanitarian law are required to apply for this position.
