Human Rights Officer (Geneva, OHCHR)
The UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights is hiring another Human Rights Officer in Geneva, Switzerland. The Human Rights Officer will be expected to carry out tasks such as monitoring current human rights situations all over the world, organizing fact-finding and assessment missions, drafting reports for those missions, drafting annual reports which will be presented orally to the Human Rights Council and General Assembly, preparing correspondences, providing administrative support, and carrying out other duties as needed. The Human Rights Officer will be expected to portray professionalism and a respect for diversity. A Master’s Degree in law, international relations, political science, or another relevant field is required. A first level university degree paired with a minimum of 2 years’ of professional experience in the field would also be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Additionally a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in the area of human rights or related field is required. There will be assessment period for this position which includes a general abilities and self-assessment test. Fluency in written and spoken English is required to be successful. Human Rights Officer (Santiago, OHCHR)
United Nations Careers has a vacancy for a Human Rights Officer for the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Santiago, Chile. The Human Rights Officer will coordinate and implement office objectives, act as a representative of the office when the Regional Representative is unavailable, prepare office reports, plan and conduct correspondences between institutions, identify needs for services and technical cooperation, provide general support for the Office, and many more crucial tasks. The candidate is required to have at least a Master’s Degree in human rights, political science, law, or any relevant field. Human Rights Officer (Beirut, OHCHR)
The Office of the High Commissioner is hiring a Human Rights Officer in Beirut, Lebanon. S/he will be expected to conduct research on current human rights situations in Syria and analyze the results, collecting human rights data, provide support to human rights mechanisms and programs, assist in the development of training modules and workshops, support advocacy and capacity build, as well as assisting in any tasks that are deemed necessary of the Office. A Master’s Degree or equivalent in a human rights related field is required for this position. The desired candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience in a responsible position, whether it be at a national or international level, in the field of human rights. Previous experience in human rights monitoring and research would be an advantage. All applicants must be fluent in written and spoken English and Arabic. Proficiency in French is desirable.
