Programme Assistant

UN Women is hiring a Programe Assistant in Dakar, SENEGAL. The responsibilities of this position include performing a variety of programme and administrative tasks and services. These tasks and services involve overall administrative arrangements, operations and logistics like the preparation of correspondences, documents, and publications in collaboration with the communication unit; The review of  budgets and assisting the Programme & Policy unit in determining appropriate budget lines; The organization of consultation meetings with clients, including participants’ travel and administrative arrangements, negotiating and securing meeting venues, meeting set-up and meeting documents preparation as well as report finalization. Candidate will also arrange appointments, meetings, and missions, as well as organize incoming and outgoing correspondences. An undergraduate degree in Business Administration or related fields is desirable but not required. Must have 6 years of relevant experience in administration, procurement, HR, or logistic support service as well as experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.). Candidate must be fluent in English and knowledge of the official national language is essential. The duration of this position will be on a one-year renewal basis. National Programme Officer (Gender and HIV/AIDS)

UN Women is hiring a National Programme Officer in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The National Programme Officer will collaborate with relevant programme staff of other UN agencies, government officials, civil society partners, and multilateral and bilateral donors to ensure the successful implementation of the projects that s/he is responsible for. The responsibilities of this position include ensuring high-quality programming of CCO for gender and HIV, overseeing the implementation of the Gender Sensitive Response to the HIV Outbreak in Roka Commune project, building of strategic partnerships, and ensuring advocacy support. Master’s Degree in International Development, Gender, Human Rights, Public Administration, Public Health or another related Behavioral or Social Sciences is required. Candidate must have at least two years of proven experience in working with gender and HIV issues with a focus on capacity development, leadership and participation of affected women. Must have at least two years’ experience in effective programming in national and international agency contexts in Cambodia and solid experience in providing technical support and strategic coordination with partners. Candidate must be fluent in spoken and written Khmer and English. The duration of this position is one year with the possibility of extension. The deadline for this position is April 1, 2016.

UN Women Knowledge and Exchange Platform Intern

UN Women is hiring a UN Women Knowledge and Exchange platform intern in New York, USA. The main responsibilities of this job include the assistance in the maintenance of UN Women EVAW Knowledge and Exchange Platform by uploading research, photos, good practice beliefs, and other relevant information on the Extranet site. Intern will provide technical support to participants in the platform on how to participate in online interactive discussions and upload material, in multiple different languages, to the Partners’ Library, as identified by national and global partners, and UN Women staff. Intern will assist in the development of content for the  EVAW Knowledge and Exchange Platform, including a Global Bulletin on the Flagship Initiative. This includes supporting the development of short summaries of identified material and maintaining the media corner page in the site; Identifying cutting edge research related to the prevention and response to violence against women, including collecting, and presenting information gathered from diverse sources in collaboration with UN Women Policy Analyst. The intern must be studying in international development, women’s studies, sociology, political science, communications, or other similar/ related fields at the university level and must be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher). Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Fluency in written and spoken French OR Spanish is required and knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage. The duration of this position is 4 months part-time. Deadline to apply is March 28, 2016.

Women, Peace and Security Summer Internship

UN Women is offering a Women, Peace and Security summer internship in New York, USA. The intern will assist the Peace and Security team with ensuring follow-up to key commitments under resolution 2242 and the global study on resolution 1325, as well as preparations for the October Open Debate on Women, Peace and Security in the Security Council. The intern’s responsibilities will include providing technical support to preparations of the SG’s annual report on Women, Peace and Security, the annual Open Debate in the Security Council, and any other briefings to Council experts; Providing background research on relevant issues on demand; Supporting the team’s programmatic efforts under the WPS flagship programme, ranging from SGBV investigations to peacebuilding, peacemaking, and rule of law. Candidate must be enrolled in a Master’s Degree programme in law, gender studies, international relations, human rights, development studies or related field. Experience working in an international environment would be desirable, but not required. The intern must provide proof of enrollment in health insurance plan. Candidate must be fluent in written and spoken English. Working knowledge of other UN official language is desired, but not required. The duration of this position will be 10-12 weeks, but it can be extended for 3 months. Deadline to apply is March 25, 2016.

Gender Equality Specialist (Egyptian Nationals Only)

UN women is hiring a Gender Equality Specialist in Cairo, Egypt. Only Egyptian nationals will be accepted for this position. The Gender Equality Specialist will provide advice on gender equality and empowerment of women in Egypt with the view of defining direction and substance of the Country Office programmatic and normative work. The candidate will  work in close collaboration with the programme and operations team, UN Women RO and HQ staff, contributing to the successful and results focused UN Women programme design and implementation and normative work, all guided by the corporate policies and frameworks for results-based management. The responsibilities of this position include the provision of top quality advisory services to the programme and normative areas of UN Women work in the country; Inter-agency and Donor Coordination Support; Strategic partnerships and resource mobilization Support; Advocacy support and facilitation of knowledge building and management. Master’s degree in international relations, development studies, communication, social sciences, gender or another social science field is required; Bachelor’s degree is acceptable for at least 7 years of relevant work experience. Minimum 5 years of progressively relevant experience in programme management and in development projects in Egypt is required. Experience in coordination and advocacy and forming strategic partnerships is required. Candidate must be fluent in spoken and written English and Arabic. The duration of this position will be 12 months. Deadline to apply is March 22, 2016.
