Emergency Officer

UNICEF is hiring a qualified Emergency Officer located in Homs, Syria. He/She provides professional assistance in risk analysis to identify emergency-prone conditions/situations and contribute to early warning and timely emergency preparedness. Additionally the successful candidate assists in the formulation of plans of action in preparation and response to emergencies. Also the successful candidate identifies formal and informal sources of information. Collects, interprets and analyses all available data on the evolving emergency situation and its implications to the emergency operation. She/He will have a University degree in one of the following fields: social sciences, public administration, law, public health, nutrition, international relations, business administration or other related disciplines. Two years of relevant professional work experience at the national and/or international levels in programme/project development, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation or administration are required to apply for this position. Programme Officer – Reporting

UNICEF is offering a position as Programme Officer – Reporting based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Among the duties of this position is to monitor reporting deadlines, grant implementation and expiry in Insight. The successful candidate will also edit and review donor reports against organizational quality standards, provide feedback to submitting programme section, produce final version and share with Deputy Representative for forwarding to the donor in line with office workflow process. Also the successful candidate will edit and review proposals to ensure quality, coherence, alignment with organizational goals and standards. She/He will have an Advanced University degree in Social Sciences, Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, International Relations, Development Studies, English Language and Literature, Creative Writing or a related technical field. A minimum of two years of progressively responsible relevant work experience in writing, reviewing and editing donor reports and other key programmatic documents in the UN or other international development organization, national government, academic institution or the private sector are required to apply for this position. JPO Associate Field Officer (Protection) [US Nationals only]

UNHCR is currently hiring a qualified Associate Field Officer (Protection) situated in East and Horn of Africa. He/She will stay abreast of political, social, economic and cultural developments that have an impact on the protection environment and provide advice to senior management. Additionally the successful candidate will support UNHCRs consultative process with local government counterparts, partners and persons of concern for effective needs assessment and planning. Also the successful candidate will facilitate UNHCRs responses in addressing Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) priorities and other specific protection needs of women and men, children, youth and older persons, persons with disabilities, minority groups such as sexual minorities and persons living with HIV/AIDS. She/He will have an advanced university degree in International Law, Political Science, Social Science or related fields. Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience are required to apply for this position. To apply for this position fluency is required in English and working knowledge of another UN language. He/She will stay abreast of political, social, economic and cultural developments that have an impact on the protection environment. Additionally the successful candidate will lead a consultative process with local government counterparts, partners and persons of concern for an effective needs assessment and develop and implement a protection strategy which derives from the country – level comprehensive protection strategy. Also the successful candidate will ensure through direct action and advocacy with the Head of Office that necessary resources are made available, if possible, to address protection and operational gaps. She/He will have an advanced university degree in Law, International Relations, Social Science or related fields. JPO Associate Protection Officer (Community – Based) [Finnish Nationals only]

UNHCR is looking for a qualified Associate Protection Officer (Community – Based) based in East and Horn of Africa.. He/She will Be fully informed about the situation in the region in terms of adoption of Community – Based protection, the existing structures in the camps and assist in developing appropriate strategies with a cross – section of members of ref ugee/IDP/stateless communities, using an AGD approach. Additionally the successful candidate will Assist field offices to put in place mechanism to boost relationships with persons of concern and strengthen network with partners in order to stay abreast of political, social, economic and cultura l developments that have an impact on the protection environment and provide appropriate advice. Also the successful candidate will Assist in ensuring that the perspectives, capacities, needs and resources of the persons of concerns are reflected in the protection strategy, planning proce sses and operations plan addressing the specific protection needs of women, men, children, youth and older persons, persons with disabilities, minority groups such as sexual minorities and persons living with HIV/AIDS. She/He will have a University degree in International Development, Cultural Studies, Human Rights, International Social Work, Social Science, Political Science, Anthropology, International Law or other clearly related disciplines. Minimum 4 years (2 years with Advanced University degree) relevant professional experience, including in the areas of community based protection, community services, social work, and human rights. are required to apply for this position.
