Associate Human Rights Officer (P-2)

The Field Missions Administered by the Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO) is hiring a qualified Associate Human Rights Officer located in Bamako, Mali. Among the duties of this position is to assist in the analysis of information, to include the impact on the countries and thematic mandates on the human rights situation in assigned area. Additionally the successful candidate will assist in screening and prepare profiles in light of due diligence and the Human Rights Due Diligence Policy. Also the successful candidate will maintain awareness of current human rights issues, to include relevant political and legal developments in the country(ies) concerned. She/He will have a first-level university degree in law, political science, international relations, social sciences or related field. A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in human rights, political affairs, international relations, law or related area are required to apply for this position. Associate Legal Officer (P-2)

International Criminal Tribunal For The Former Yugoslavia is offering a position as Associate Legal Officer based in The Hague. The main duties of this vacancy include to conduct legal research on a diverse range of assigned issues in criminal law, international law, international humanitarian law and other area(s) of specialization using multiple research sources. Additionally the successful candidate will on behalf of the Judges, assist in the preparation of legal opinions and advice, draft background memoranda, decisions and judgments of the Tribunal. Furthermore among the duties of this position is to assist the Judges and the Senior Legal Officer in the preparation and management of cases, and drafting of decisions during the pre-trial and pre-appeal phase of proceedings. Eligible candidates must hold a advanced university degree in law with specialisation in international, criminal or humanitarian law. A minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible legal experience, at either the national or international level, with emphasis in criminal law, international law or humanitarian law is needed to qualify for this vacancy.
