The Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University is currently offering a free online course in public policy called Responding to 9/11: Counterterrorism Policy in the 21st Century. A pass-fail course of study taught entirely in English by associate professor David Schanzer. The class includes quizzes, graded writing assignments and takes an in-depth look at how the events of September 11, 2001, have shaped public policy in the United States and abroad. In particular, the course examines how law enforcement, intelligence, domestic security forces and the military have been used to combat terrorism in the wake of the attack. Students will be asked to consider how effective, just, ethical and legal various methods of counter terrorism are.
