Human Rights Officer (New York)

The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights is hiring a qualified Human Rights Officer located in New York. He/She will provide advice and guidance to PMSS, FOTCD desks, and Human rights components on the implement of the consolidation of protection functions, with particular focus in priority missions, with a view to strengthen prevention and response mechanisms, including advocacy, community outreach, monitoring and reporting, investigations, referral and support to victims, capacity building and efforts to fight impunity, among other areas. Additionally the successful candidate will participate and provides secretariat support to HQ working group on consolidation of protection functions in peace operations, write meeting notes, facilitate consultation with relevant departments and ensures follow-up. She/He will have an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in law, political science, international relations, social sciences, or related field. A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in human rights, political affairs, international relations, law or related area are required to apply for this position. Human Rights Officer (Dakar)

The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights is offering a position as Human Rights Officer located in Dakar. He/She will under the overall guidance and direct supervision of OHCHR Regional Representative for West Africa, and the Chief, Women’s Human Rights and Gender Section at HQ, the Regional Gender Advisor will be in charge of integrating a gender perspective into the work of the Regional Office, in line with the strategic objectives of the office. She/He will have an advanced University Degree (Masters or equivalent) preferably in law, political science, international relations or other social science disciplines. At least 7 years of experience in human rights or closely related field, particularly in gender and women’s human rights are required to apply for this position.
