UN Women Policy Analyst (UN Security Council)

UN Women is hiring a qualified Policy Analyst (UN Security Council) located in New York, USA. He/She will provide research, policy analysis, and coordination support for the preparation and follow-up -including impact tracking- of monthly meetings of the Security Council’s Informal Experts Group on Women, Peace and Security, and support the Policy Specialist and the Chief in other functions as the designated Secretariat of this new mechanism. Additionally the successful candidate will provide coordination support in UN Women’s efforts to fundraise for and deliver on a global initiative to build staff and partners’ capacity on gender and conflict analysis in countries on the agenda of the Security Council, through the substantive drafting and consultation on a proposal, and support to the implementation, including through desk review and research, data analysis, webinars, and missions to country offices. Also the successful candidate will provide logistical and coordination support in the participation of representatives of women’s civil society organizations in country-specific meetings of the Security Council, as called for in 2242 and increasingly demanded by Member States. She/He will have a Master’s degree in law, social sciences, political science/ international affairs (i.e. international development studies, gender/women’s studies) or a related technical field. At least 2 years of relevant work experience in programme and policy analysis, with experience in writing and researching on one or several of the following fields: women, peace and security, human rights, gender and development, international organizations are required to apply for this position. Programme Officer (UNAIDS)

UNAIDS is hiring a qualified Programme Officer located in Central African Republic. He/She will assist in the design and implementation of HIV programmes for populations of humanitarian concern and uniformed personnel (including peacekeepers) and facilitate their integration into humanitarian responses, security sector reforms and demobilization, disarmament and reintegration processes. Additionally the successful candidate will participate and provide support in the review of National Strategic Plans (NSP) and development of Implementation Support Plans (ISP) to reflect short and long term humanitarian and security challenges. Also the successful candidate will support in the building and strengthening of strategic partnerships with all relevant humanitarian assistance and security sector partners in countries. She/He will have an advanced university degree at the Master’s level in social science, public health and business administration. For internal candidates, a first university degree and 4 years of experience will be considered as equivalent. Desirable: Studies in international relations and or international humanitarian law. A minimum of 2 years of professional work experience on HIV/AIDS in national or international organizations/ institutions related to AIDS and development with experience on AIDS and humanitarian emergencies or AIDS and security programmes are required to apply for this position. Shelter Officer (UNHCR)

UNHCR – United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees is hiring a qualified Shelter Officer located in Geneva, Switzerland. He/She will ensure that UNHCR Field operations are supported in carrying out shelter needs assessments taking into account the current situation, projected population planning figures and the expected scale of returns. Additionally the successful candidate will support the development of country level shelter strategies which are framed by UNHC’s Global Strategy for Settlement and Shelter (2014-2018) and take into consideration the local context, age and gender, culture, climate, environmental protection and the availability of local resources, including materials, capacities and existing infrastructure. Also the successful candidate will provide clear guidance on standards for shelter, including minimum emergency standards to meet basic and essential needs as well as guidance for phased improvement of shelter conditions that will be necessary as the duration of the displacement prolongs. She/He will have a University degree in Architecture or Civil-Engineering. A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience with an advanced University degree are required to apply for this position.
