Investigators – Human Rights Officers (OHCHR)

The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights is hiring two qualified Investigators – Human Rights Officer located in Beirut, Lebanon. He/She will conduct interviews and all other evidence-gathering activities in Yemen and other countries, and analyse information pertaining to human rights and international humanitarian law directly related to the situation in Yemen; Additionally the successful candidate will use information management tools developed by OHCHR, prepare additional analytical documents, implement plan to ensure that all required measures are taken to protect victims and witnesses who will cooperate with the Group of Eminent Experts; and contribute to the production of the final report. She/He will have an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in International Law. A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in human rights are required to apply for this position. To apply for this position fluency is required in English and Arabic.

Research Assistant (UCL)

University College London (UCL) is currently hiring a qualified Research Assistant situated in London, UK. The Research Assistant will work with Dr Tom Pegram at The School of Public Policy, UCL, on a project regarding global performance assessments of national human rights institutions (NHRIs). This is a part time Research Assistant contract. The Research Assistant will be expected to undertake research duties in connection with the project as directed by the PI, which include the following, contributing to the validity of qualitative and quantitative analysis methods, searching for literature and produce summaries and preparing datasets and review data. Please note this post is an entry level research position. She/He will have a Masters degree in international relations, or a related field. An understanding of national human rights institutions and/or the international human rights system would be desirable.

He/She will serve as first reporting officer of a team of human rights officers; Additionally the successful candidate will develop and oversee the implementation of information gathering and operational plans. Also the successful candidate will develop and oversee the implementation of the methodology and tools to collect and process all data. She/He will have an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in international law or related field. A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in human rights are required to apply for this position. To apply for this position fluency is required in English.

MENA Research Associate, Research and Investigations (PHR)

Physicians for Human Rights is offering a position as MENA Research Associate, Research and Investigations based in New York, USA. He/She will conduct Arabic-language open-source research on attacks on health care in Syria and Yemen. Additionally the successful candidate will monitor conflict developments in Syria and Yemen for violations of medical neutrality. Also the successful candidate will assist in the organization of research and maintain methodological adherence. She/He will have a Bachelor’s degree.
