The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) is delighted to offer a 5-day field visit to The Hague in June 2022. Together with the Human Rights Council Training Programme, it will provide participants with a first-hand experience of the UN!

This unique training opportunity will be ideal to engage in face-to-face training activities and combine them with a summer vacation in the Hague, Netherlands. It will give you direct access to the UN, offering opportunities for networking and insights into UN career paths.

The United Nations The Hague Immersion Programme includes expert lecturers, training workshops, private guided tours and public hearing sessions through The Hague’s UN premises. In dedicated career development sessions, you can have your CV, cover letter and LinkedIn profile reviewed.

The field visit also includes activities with the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the International Criminal Court (ICC), the Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals (MICT), the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) and other The Hague-based institutions.

The face-to-face component of the training will be implemented from 27 June – 1 July 2022 in the Hague. A maximum of 30 participants are accepted for the field visit to the city of peace and justice. All participants are welcome to register and spots will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.

Directly prior to the field visit, UNITAR also offers the four-week UNITAR Human Rights Council Training Programme from 6 – 24 June 2022. It will contain real sessions of the Human Rights Council in live-stream, live-webinars with UN human rights experts, e-workshops and virtual guided tours and can be attended together with the field visit.

In case that due to any COVID-19-related travel restrictions, participants registered for the United Nations The Hague Immersion Programme are unable to travel to the Netherlands, it is possible for them to attend the UNITAR Human Rights Council Training Programme free of charge.

In addition, their slot for the field visit to the Netherlands will be automatically transferred to the next edition of the United Nations The Hague Immersion Programme in February 2023 or later, with no additional costs for the participant.
