The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) is delighted to offer the very first edition of Human Rights Council Training Programme. This course will run parallel to the real UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.
This unique training opportunity aims at providing participants with in-depth knowledge on human rights and the functioning of the UN’s key body to promote them. It further intends to strengthen the participants’ conviction of the principles enshrined in the UN charter.
The purpose of the programme is to build up participants’ knowledge and skills in related to human rights. This will empower them to take on leadership roles in their respective environments and thereby continue to promote the respect for human rights in the world.
The Human Rights Council Online Training Programme includes webinars and e-workshops by UN experts as well as virtual guided tours through the UN´s Palace of Nations and the diplomatic district in Geneva.
In addition, participants will be able to experience the real Human Rights Council, which runs parallel to the programme in Geneva, via online live-stream. One part of the training will be to attend selected sessions online together and debrief them with UN experts thereafter.
The training opportunity will be implemented from 15 February 2021 to 5 March 2021. A maximum of 50 participants are accepted per edition and slots are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. All participants will receive an official UN certificate of completion.
The Human Rights Council Training Programme is open to everyone with a passion for human rights. Participants can include professionals from public or private sector, representatives from NGOs, university students, or other actors in academia.
