The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) is delighted to offer the second edition of the Human Rights Council Training Programme. This course will run online and in parallel to the real UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.
This unique training opportunity aims at providing participants with in-depth knowledge on human rights and the functioning of UN mechanisms to promote and protect them. It further intends to strengthen the participants’ conviction of the UN charter´s values and principles.
The purpose of the programme is to build up participants’ knowledge and skills related to human rights. This will empower them to take on leadership roles in their respective environments and thereby continue to promote the respect for human rights in the world.
The Human Rights Council Online Training Programme includes webinars and e-workshops by UN experts as well as virtual guided tours through the UN´s Palace of Nations and Geneva´s diplomatic district.
In addition, participants will be able to experience the real Human Rights Council, which runs in parallel to the programme in Geneva, via live-stream. One part of the training will be to attend selected sessions online together and debrief them with UN experts thereafter.
The training opportunity will be implemented from 14 June 2021 to 2 July 2021. A maximum of 50 participants are accepted per edition and slots are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. All participants will receive an official UN certificate of completion.
The Human Rights Council Training Programme is open to everyone with a passion for human rights. Participants can include professionals from public or private sector, representatives from NGOs, university students, or other actors in academia.
The deadline to apply for the summer edition is 9 June 2021. For more information on costs and the application procedures please visit the official website.
