The LLM Corporate Sustainability, Human Rights and ESG Law at the University of Dundee is a specialised postgraduate programme that examines how legal frameworks regulate the social and environmental responsibilities of businesses and investors. It focuses on the growing importance of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) standards and the role of law in addressing global challenges such as climate change, human rights protection and corporate accountability.
Students develop an understanding of how international, regional and national laws shape corporate behaviour, with opportunities to explore areas such as sustainable investment, international trade, energy law and human rights regulation. The programme combines legal theory with practical application, equipping students with the tools to assess risks, implement compliance strategies and engage with real-world policy and regulatory issues.
Teaching is delivered through lectures, seminars and workshops, often supported by input from practitioners and experts in the field. A substantial dissertation allows students to undertake independent research on a topic of their choice, supported by specialist supervision.
Graduates gain strong analytical, research and professional skills, preparing them for careers in legal practice, finance, government, international organisations and advocacy, particularly in areas related to sustainability, business regulation and human rights.
