The MSc Disability Studies, Rights and Inclusion (Online) at the University of Leeds is an interdisciplinary programme that explores disability as a key issue of equality, human rights and social justice. It focuses on understanding how disability is socially constructed and how structural inequalities shape the experiences of disabled people globally, encouraging students to critically engage with cultural, political and policy dimensions of inclusion.

Students examine topics such as disability theory, inequality, human rights frameworks and activism, while analysing how disability intersects with broader global challenges including poverty, climate change and conflict. The curriculum emphasises an intersectional and applied approach, enabling learners to explore how inclusive policies, services and practices can be developed across sectors such as healthcare, education, law and design.

Delivered fully online, the programme brings together a diverse international cohort and combines guided learning with independent study. A significant component is an applied research project, allowing students to investigate a real-world issue or collaborate with organisations to promote meaningful change.

Graduates develop strong analytical, research and advocacy skills, preparing them for careers in policy, activism, public services, non-governmental organisations, research and related fields focused on advancing disability rights and inclusive societies.
