The MA Erasmus Mundus Human Rights Policy and Practice at the University of Roehampton is a two‑year, full‑time joint master’s programme that prepares students for an international career in human rights policy and practice. It combines multidisciplinary perspectives, including legal, political, sociological and anthropological approaches, helping students understand how human rights are protected, promoted and contested in a globalised world. The course emphasises critical analysis and the practical application of theory across different contexts and actors, including civil society organisations, governments and public and private sectors.

A distinctive feature of this programme is its international structure: students study across multiple partner institutions, moving between universities in the UK, Sweden and Spain, and may undertake research in the most suitable location for their dissertation topic. This mobility enriches exposure to diverse academic environments and human rights practices.

Teaching blends classroom learning with organisational analysis and placement‑oriented activities designed to strengthen analytical, research and professional skills. Students also benefit from engagement with interdisciplinary research centres focused on contemporary human rights issues. Graduates develop skills relevant to roles such as policy analyst, human rights advocate, NGO manager, international development specialist and researcher.
