The Asian Peacebuilders Scholarship is a Dual Degree Master of Arts Program. This initiative is shared by The Nippon Foundation, Ateneo de Manila University and the UN Mandated University for Peace. The point of this program is to give young professionals from Asia the training needed to become practitioners of peace building to prepare them for leadership positions in organizations around the world. This program intends to reinforce the presence of Asian professionals in fields of Asian issues.
This program offers specialized language training that allows professionals who have a low proficiency in English to participate. They also get to study in the Philippines and Costa Rica and will gain access to the hands-on implementation and design of field projects within Asia. Scholars will get two different Master of Arts degrees, with one from Ateneo de Manila University in Political Science with a major in Global Politics and one from the University for Peace (UPEACE) in a field that is in relation to generating peace.
Those chosen to participate in this program will be given a full scholarship. The scholarship will cover airfare, tuition, transit and a few visa costs along with a monthly stipend. While applicants who are Asian are accepted, there is a preference that is given to those who have a minimum of two years of work experience in a related field; have a bachelor’s degree from a known institution; and have demonstrated a desire to work within the field of peace and conflict along with a number of other preferences.
