OHCHR recruits early career Associate Human Rights Officer

The United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva is seeking an Associate Human Rights Officer.

The posting deadline for this position, which reports to the Unit Coordinator/Chief of Section and the Chief of the Special Procedures Branch, is June 8, 2019.

General duties include assisting with monitoring and dissecting data analysis from various UN agencies and departments, IGOs, NGOs, governments, and programs.

Individuals are required to work independently on research and development missions, prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations based on fact finding investigation.

Position includes follow up of prepared reports and continuation through implementation of priority recommendations.

Individuals will work as a liaison between various departments and agencies regarding programs, funds, government agencies, and other initiatives with a focus on Human Rights.

Works closely with staff in the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief of Section.

Qualified candidates will have a graduate degree in law, public policy, or related field and at least two years of experience in the Human Rights field.

Combination of experience and undergraduate degree may be substituted for advanced degree. Fluency in English and French or Spanish is required for this position. Fluency in other languages is preferred.
