Paid Internship at African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (Banjul)

Front Line Defenders is offering a paid internship at the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (Banjul) to strengthening international mechanisms supporting human rights defenders. The purpose of the Internship is to support the work of the Special Rapporteur on Human Rights Defenders at the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR).

This is a 12-months placement in Banjul, the Gambia. Candidates who have experience as a human rights defender in Africa are strongly encouraged to apply and will be preferred.

The successful candidate will gather information on the situation of human rights defenders in Africa, support the drafting of urgent appeals and communications to Governments concerning human rights violations against human rights defenders and liaise with non-governmental organizations for the smooth implementation of the mandate.

Interns will receive 950 USD per month as compensation. To apply for this position you should be fluent in English and French.
