This six month contract position in United Nations University (UNU), located in Macau, Special Administrative Region of China, reports to the Computing and Society (UNU-CS)Organisational Unit. The UNU-CS is dedicated to solutions oriented research for key issues detailed in the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
UNU is a global entity comprised of international scholars for the purpose of research and postgraduate training opportunities in accordance with the principles of the UN and its affiliates. This operation serves as a platform for the development and exchange of ideas and dialogue to improve sustainability in developing nations.
The EQUALS research project focuses on gender equality and empowerment in a digital age. This project seeks data and evidence based on behavioral theories. Research Assistants report to the hosting Principal Research Fellow and are expected to perform research and contribute toward project goals through the production of communications materials and publications. Take direction from project leader and complete administrative duties as required, including participating in meetings, seminars, and presentations. Research Assistants are required to live in Macau for duration of contract.
Experience and Qualifications
Qualified applicants will have completed or be close to completing a PhD in related areas and have mixed research method experience in the field of gender and technology. Candidates must have excellent communication skills, being proficient in written and oral English. Candidate must maintain strong interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with others in a multi-culturally diverse environment.
This position is employed via Personnel Service Agreement, not as a staff member, and international civil servant status does not apply. Remuneration is set monthly at MOP $16,465, plus rent-free housing (excluding utilities). This six month contract with possibility of renewal not to exceed six years of combined appointments, begins 01 July 2019. The deadline to apply is the 16 June 2019.
