The Office Of The High Commissioner For Human Rights Is Accepting Applications For The Position As Associate Human Rights Officer ( 2 Posts) Based In Kinshasa. He/She will assist the HRDDP Secretariat in all the tasks under its responsibility as per the applicable Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). Additionally the successful candidate will research, collect, verify, analyse and monitor information relevant to the observance of international human rights and humanitarian law situation in the designated mission area. Also the successful candidate will contribute to the evaluation of risks and benefits relating to the provision of support by the United Nations to DRC Defence and Security institutions and officers, including the identification of appropriate mitigating measures. Eligible candidates must hold an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law, political science, international relations, social sciences, or in a related area. A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in human rights or a closely related field are required to apply for this position. Human Rights Officer

The tasks of this position include to review available literature and ongoing work by OHCHR, UN agencies, civil society organizations, national human rights institutions, and other stakeholders, on recording/coding data on human rights violations against human rights defenders. Additionally the successful candidate will support the development of a methodological framework and data collection for an indicator on human rights defenders and other indicators that have been recommended as part of the indicator framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and that may involve data processing by OHCHR. She/He will have a Advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent), preferably in Statistics, Economics, Development Studies, Human Rights, Law, Social Sciences or other disciplines related to human rights. At least five years of progressively responsible experience at national and international levels in conducting analytical work or policy-oriented research within a governmental, non-governmental or academic environment are required to apply for this position.
