3 PAID Internship Programmes with the UN and EU Aarhus Centre


FAO Internship Programme (UN FAO)
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations is looking for interns. The purpose of this internship is to provide knowledge and hands on experience to enthusiastic students or new graduates. FAO is looking for an intern who is a recent graduate or currently enrolled in a graduate school program. The candidate must have completed at least 2 years of undergraduate studies in a relevant field to be considered for this role. Interns must be younger than 30-years-old and cannot bear any relation to current FAO staff members. S/he will receive a stipend salary of around $700 a month, but varying pay will be negotiated for students who are sponsored by an institution. The candidate must have a working knowledge of either English, Spanish or French. Knowledge of more than one of the desired languages or knowledge of Arabic, Chinese, or Russian would be an advantage. The duration of this contract ranges from three to six months. Only qualified individuals are encouraged to apply for this internship. The selection process is open throughout the year.

UNU Junior Fellows Internship
The UN University Office of the Rector is looking for an intern in Toyko, Japan. The purpose of this program is to provide practical knowledge for interns as well as the development of skills in a dynamic and constructive environment for students who are interested in a career with the United Nations. The program will cover research and writing for institutional development, event and meeting coordinating, supporting the planning of lectures, logistical support, proof reading and editing, preparing publications, and communications. The intern will assist with many tasks and provide support for the United Nations University and the UN. All interns must be enrolled in or recently graduated from a Masters or Doctorate degree program in a relevant field. S/he will be expected to be proficient in basic computer programs like spreadsheets, word processors, etc. S/he must have excellent researching and analytical skills. The candidate must not have any more than 5 years of experience in a professional field and cannot be older than 32 years old. S/he must be fluent in written and spoken English with great interpersonal and communication skills. The deadline to register for this paid internship is May 15, 2016, but interested candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

EU Aarhus Centre Internship
The EU Aarhus Centre is offering an internship program in Brussels. The purpose of this internship program is to provide support to the EU Aarhus team while gaining valuable experience and  developing skills in a professional environment. The intern will assist in reporting, communications, funding applications, reviewing and summarizing legal cases, monitoring EU political developments, proof reading documents, and legal and policy research. S/he will be expected to have a degree in or be enrolled in an EU law program. Candidates who have obtained a Master’s Degree in the relevant field are highly desired. The ideal candidate will also have previous experience in a non-profit organization and strong research skills. All interns will be expected to work at minimum of 37.5 hours a week or 3 days a week for a period of 5 months. S/he must be fluent in written and spoken English, along with a European language, and be able to translate this text to a readable format that will be presented to various audiences. The deadline for this position is May 13, 2016.
