The UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO) is offering a position as Associate Human Rights Officer situated in El Geneina; Ed Da’ein; Zalinguei; El Fasher. He/She researches and collects information pertaining to human rights matters, including their gender dimensions, from a variety of data sources; assists in the analysis of information, to include the impact on the human rights situation in the Darfur, Sudan. Additionally the successful candidate maintains awareness of current human rights issues in the Darfur Region, Sudan, to include relevant political and legal developments. Also the successful candidate contributes to the identification of human rights issues/problems, including their gender dimensions, through good research and analysis and timely preparation of reports, etc. She/He will have an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law, political science, international relations, social sciences or related field. She/He will have an advanced university degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations; or equivalent professional work experience in the communication area, combined with a university degree in a related field. At least two years relevant professional work experience in the field of communication; familiarity with the development and implementation of advocacy strategies; of public advocacy campaigns; and of partnership building at national or international level are required to apply for this position.
