In a world facing unprecedented challenges—from the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence to the climate crisis and human rights violations in global conflicts—there is an urgent need for skilled advocates to lead the way. Penn Carey Law’s Global Institute of Human Rights Certificate Program is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and tools to become a transformative advocate, human rights factfinder, and leader in addressing these critical issues.
Taking place May 20th through 23rd, the 2025 Global Institute will be an immersive, live virtual online course of study designed for undergraduate and graduate students, early-career professionals, and individuals from a wide range of fields who are passionate about human rights advocacy. Whether you’re seeking a career in the human rights sector, exploring ways to incorporate advocacy into your current role, or simply looking to deepen your understanding of the laws, norms, policies, and strategies essential to addressing today’s most pressing human rights challenges, this program offers a unique opportunity to build knowledge and develop practical skills for meaningful impact.
This opportunity is unique compared to traditional academic studies of human rights, as the focus of this program is to bring working human rights advocates from around the world to the table, allowing them to share their experiences and expertise with the next generation of human rights advocates. Past speakers have included a range of leaders from Craig Newmark of Craig’s List to Justice Ayesha A. Malik of Pakistan’s Supreme Court.
