Thanks to the recent scaling of vaccination roll-out by Swiss Authorities, the public health situation in Switzerland is expected to improve again this summer. The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) is therefore delighted to offer 5-day field visits to Geneva in July and August 2021. Together with the UN Online Immersion Programme, these visits will provide participants with a first-hand experience of the United Nations!
This unique training opportunity will be ideal to engage in face-to-face training activities again and combine it with a safe summer stay in Geneva, Switzerland. It will give you direct access to the UN, offering opportunities for networking and insights into UN career paths.
The field visits to Geneva include activities with the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and other Geneva-based institutions.
The UN Immersion Programmes include expert lecturers, training workshops, and guided tours through UN premises. Dedicated career development sessions will give you the opportunity to have your CV, motivation letter and LinkedIn profile reviewed.
The training opportunity is available in two editions from 26 – 30 July 2021 and from 23 – 27 August 2021. A maximum of 20 participants are accepted per edition. The activities will follow established health safety measures and make speed tests available to all participants.
In addition to the field visits, UNITAR is excited to announce a two-week UN Online Immersion Programme from 9 – 20 August 2021. It will contain expert webinars, e-workshops, virtual guided tours and many more online activities.
In case that due to any COVID-19-related travel restrictions, participants registered for the July or August Immersion Programme are unable to travel to Switzerland, it is possible for them to attend the Online Immersion Programme free of charge.
In addition, their slot for the field visit to Geneva will be automatically transferred to the next edition of the UN Immersion Programme in winter 2022 or later, with no additional costs for the participant.
